Chesterfield Central Park Festivities Featuring New $7 Million Amphitheater
Chesterfield is preparing to celebrate the opening of a new amphitheater, the focal point of Chesterfield’s Central Park. The amphitheater accommodates 2,500 people in lawn and stadium-style seating. The City of Chesterfield Web site states: “In conjunction with the amphitheater, two stream walks highlight the water component of Central Park, which maintain a continuous flow of water from the head of each stream into the large lake. The stream walks are heavily landscaped, have adjacent trails and two arched pedestrian bridges for park visitors and trail users to cross over the flowing streams as they watch the sun set over the lake, located behind the popular West County YMCA.
The free event kicks off at10AM Saturday morning with a classic car show and will have a jammed-packed day ending at 10PM. There will be inflatables, train rides, caricature drawings, face painting magicians, food vendors, and live entertainment.
“Our new Chesterfield Amphitheater is a tremendous addition to the area,” Chesterfield Mayor Bruce Geiger said. “This unique venue is something the people of Chesterfield have wanted, and we are happy to deliver it on-time and under-budget. On May 21, we’re excited to welcome our very first guests to experience the sights and sounds of the new outdoor amphitheater.”
