St. Louis Back to School Sales Tax Holiday Saves You Money-Starts this Weekend

The St. Louis Back to School Sales Tax Holiday Starts August 5th

Back-to-school shoppers in St. Louis County and St. Charles County will enjoy savings of up to 8% this coming weekend as the tax man takes a weekend break.  While all Missourians will be exempt from the 4.225% sales tax on certain items, St. Charles and St. Louis County shoppers will not have to pay county sales tax.  Sweeeeet!!

 List of Items That Qualify for the St. Louis Sales Tax Holiday

Clothing – Articles of clothing costing up to $100 including cloth needed to make school uniforms or clothing. Watches, watchbands, purses, jewelry, scarves, ties, umbrellas, ties, headbands and belt buckles do not qualify.

Supplies for School – Books, paper, pencils, backpacks, art supplies and calculators are covered items. Sports equipment, phones, and furniture are not covered.

Software – Up to $350

Personal Computers – Up to $3,500

Peripheral Devices for Your Computer – Up to $3500 including disk drives, video cards, speakers, modems and printers.

Shoppers in the cities mentioned above will not have to pay state or county sales taxes but they will have to pay city sales tax.
