Our definition of a 1.5 story home is a home that has the master bedroom suite on the main floor and all other bedrooms on the second floor. A reverse 1.5 story has the master suite on the main level and all other bedrooms on the lower level or basement. Two story homes have the master bedroom suite and additional bedrooms located on the second level of the home.

If you see yourself having friends or family stay-overs throughout the year, you may prefer having your guests on a different level of your home. It’s a lot quieter when your guests are upstairs.
